About The Artist

I have been involved with some form of artistic expression all of my life. While raising a family, I worked as a Color Consultant at a decorating business. Upon moving to Alexandria, VA in 2000, I decided to make painting my focus. I began with taking studio art classes at The Art League School located in the Torpedo Factory Art Center in the city of Alexandria. I started with drawing classes and then branched out into watercolor and then oil painting, eventually settling on painting in acrylic with mixed media collage as my preferred medium, which I have been doing for the last eight years.I studied with Deanna Schwartzberg for nine years. Since 2010, I have studied with internationally known artist Robert VanderZee of the Robert VanderZee School of painting. I have participated in workshops with many local and internationally known artists. I regularly enter juried and group shows. I have made several painting trips to Europe, South America and many U.S cities. I believe new places, smells and cultures stimulate my creativity. I feel the process of that creativity, of making art, for lack of a better word, connects me to the deepest aspects of myself.
